Apple considering Spotify-like service, Android app

spotify-logoIt’s been a slow friday in the world of Apple, but some interesting news surfaced this afternoon courtesy of Billboard. Apple is supposedly considering opening up a Spotify-like on-demand streaming service in light of declining music sales, and may also be working on an Android app for said service.

Apple has opened exploratory talks with senior label executives about the possibility of launching an on-demand streaming service that would rival Spotify and Beats Music, according to three people familiar with the talks. Apple is also thinking about adding an iTunes App for Android phones, the Google rival that has been growing faster than the iPhone, these sources said.

This news comes by way of supposed “exploratory talks” that the Cupertino corporation has started with record labels, likely due to the fact that record sales are down up to 13 this year in the United States.

How would you feel about an Apple-started music subscription service? If they can do something different than Spotify and Rdio and innovate a little, I’d likely be on board.
